2015 Bordeaux – Léoville Las Cases & Second Slice Pontet Canet

by Charles Lea

The Delons have now released 2015 CHÂTEAU LÉOVILLE LAS CASES at £1475 per dozen, £737.50 per six. ‘superlative Léoville Las-Cases with the substance to suggest long-term ageing will be repaid. 95 – 97/100’ Neal Martin. ‘Grabs the attention. 17.5’ Jancis Robinson. ‘This will be a very great wine.’ 96 Steven Spurrier. The second wine 2015 LE PETIT LION is priced at £310 a dozen or £155 per six. We wish we had tasted these wines as well as other critics and look forward to seeing them again in bottle. We feel that Las Cases likely to be available at this price for a very long time and we would not suggest you tie money up in it unless you really need to have a case of Las Cases in your cellar in 2035+ and think you might forget to buy one in the meantime.

We are told that Bruno Borie will release Ducru Beaucaillou ‘any time now’, but this could mean anything knowing Bruno. We have also been waiting for La Conseillante and Figeac for nearly a week since we were told the release of Conseillante was imminent. Rumours suggests that Conseillante is trying to go for a very high price but – we will see.

This afternoon also sees the release of a large second tranche of 2015 CHÂTEAU PONTET CANET. This was one of the successes of the early campaign and sold out quickly at £795. It is now offered at £890, the same price as Lynch Bages (Funny, that).
