Azienda Agricola Bicocchi

The Bicocchi Family have been producing wine on their farm since 1851. 12 hectares of land at about 250m above sea level are home to 150,000 vines, all grown organically/biodynamically. About 12 km from the Tyrrhenian Sea, the vines benefit from being in their own micro-climate. A cool daytime breeze from the sea ensuring that the temperature rarely exceeds 30-31C, while at night the the direction is reversed, with cool air coming down from the hills to the east and dropping the temperature down to 12-13C. When coupled with the free draining calcareous soil and over 160 years of wine making experience, produces grapes with plenty of character and wine with a strong personality. The current owner Carlo Lodovico Bicocchi is a perfectionist who has been growing grapes and making wine for a long time, but was slow to start bottling himself - he wnated to be sure he could control each element of the process and bottle similar quality every year. 'All our wines are produced exclusively with grapes gathered in our vineyards to grant their special characteristic and give our customers products that are genuine, ethical and loyal. As the English say our products are characterised from the 3 P’s: the Place, the Plan and the People.' Always prepared for the worst he uses the motto 'the unexpected is always to be expected' and agrees with Pasteur’s famous saying 'Fortune favours the prepared mind.'
