Light brickish ruby. Sweet, mellow, gentle nose. Lovely haunting, fully mature wine with more lusciousness than most 1970s and a really rich undertow of round fruit. Impossible not to like this wine, although it may not be as long-lived as some other 1970s. A very neat finish. Rating: 18.5 Jancis Robinson MW OBE - www.JancisRobinson.com (Sep 2011)

Bricky garnet. Slighly darker fruit and some leather too, more savoury and slightly less freshness and not as lifted as the Graham’s. More raisin and Christmas cake sweetness and spice with a velvety texture. Luscious but still quite a bit of fimness. Full of fruit density still and tremendous length. 1990-2020 Rating: 18 Julia Harding MW, www.JancisRobinson.com(Sep 2011)
The 1970 fabulous, a broodingly dense-colored, backward port that has all the signs of future greatness, provided one is willing to cellar it Rating: 96 Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, www.RobertParker.com(Sep 2011)
