This has been opening up into full sumptuous expression for the last few years and now at 40 is seriously attractive. Displaying the full panoply of dark fruit, cherry and cassis, with liquorice and a rich, full-bodied chocolatey, wood-spice and a glorious, rich, walnutty finish. L&S (Jun 2017)

Wonderfully rich, the black fruits fill out the nose and although sweet there is a touch of firmness adding to the attractive complexity. The palate has a lush power, lots of bramble mixed in the bilberry, all refreshed by that hint of mulberry. Although lush and voluptuous there is freshness and nice structure. 2007-20 Rating: 96 Derek Smedley MW, www.dereksmedleymw.co.uk (Dec 2013)

Graham is another great port house, producing one of the deepest-colored and sweetest styles of vintage port. Along with Taylor and Fonseca, Graham has probably been the most consistent producer of great port in the post- World War II era. Their tawnys are quite good rather than exceptional, but their vintage ports are truly sublime and sumptuous. Rating: 93 Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, www.RobertParker.com (Oct 2013)

Really perfumed – cedarwood and cigar box. Cedarwood and sandalwood and cinnamon – incense-like. Rich and generous on the palate, but perhaps not as fresh as 1970, more nutty. Tasted 21/10/10 Rating: 18/20 Julia Harding MW, www.JancisRobinson.com (Nov 2012)
