This has been opening up into full sumptuous expression for the last few years and now at 40 is seriously attractive. Displaying the full panoply of dark fruit, cherry and cassis, with liquorice and a rich, full-bodied chocolatey, wood-spice and a glorious, rich, walnutty finish. L&S (Jun 2017)

Mid tawny. Slightly reticent nose of gingerbread, Christmas cake and dried cherry. Voluptuous palate, with silky tannins and spicy, figgy intensity. Integral, dark-chocolate finish. Splendidly full colour. Very fine nose’ Lovely fruit. Very composed. Multi-dimensional. Very classy. Quite firm still and very vigorous. This is very,very lovely. Still youthful. Fullish body. Part of the Symington port 'empire'. Founded by Scotsman Andrew James Symington who arrived in Oporto in 1882 and initially joined Graham's.
The Symington family own other big names in the port industry such as Warre & Co, Dow's, and Cockburn's to name but a few, and are the largest vineyard ownership group in the Douro.
