Owned by Alain Vauthier (Ausone), and made in a similar vein. Very pure fruit expression, cassis and blueberry, with a medium-full body, crisp tannic structure and very considerable length. Very much to my taste! L&S (Mar 2005)

‘If you cannot find or afford the famed Chateau Ausone, this is a wine to seek out as it possesses a similar personality. Ausone’s proprietor, Alain Vauthier, also produces Moulin St.-Georges, and in 2003, production was cut in half by the summer’s heat and drought. Incredibly impressive, this inky/black coloured, low acid St.-Emilion exhibits gorgeous scents of crushed minerals, black raspberries, blueberries, and a long, broad palate impression. A blend of 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Petit Verdot, it is dense, structured, opulent, and forward, somewhat atypical by Vauthier’s standards. Nevertheless, it is a beautiful sleeper of the vintage. Drink it over the next 12-13 years.’ Robert Parker The Wine Advocate Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, www.RobertParker.com (Mar 2005)
