As always the Bressandes stands out among the Cortons - the Maréchaudes is rather big and blunt by comparison, but this has the usual wild fruit character, a brightly defined wine with cut and class. Quite tannic, with a lively long crisp finish. It will always be expressive. L&S (Nov 2006)

As it often is, the nose is more elegant though more reserved with refined red pinot fruit and obvious minerality that continues onto the sweet, rich, precise and firm flavors that possess good vibrancy and excellent finishing punch and length. This is very firmly structured and crafted in an understated, "built to age" style. Drinking range: 2015 - 2029 Rating: 92 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Apr 2007)

Their vines in Corton-Bressandes are located in the middle of the appellation and the soils are deep with a balance between chalk and clay. Stone fruit and minerality are blanced with cinnamon spice and plenty of matter. The attack on the palate is full of energy and is supported by smooth, glossy tannins that show grip. Long finish is perfumed and intense. Very fine. From 2012/13. Drinking range: 2012 - Sarah Marsh MW, The Burgundy Briefing (Jan 2007)

Domaine Chandon de Briailles

One of the great family domaines of the Côte d'Or, housed in the remarkable manor house at Savigny, with excellent holdings in Savigny itself and in neighbouring Pernand and on the hill of Corton. Organic since 1988 and, now, biodynamic (fully certified by Demeter and Ecocert). It is run by brother and sister François and Claude de Nicolaÿ. As François explains, they do not make 'bêtes de concours' or competition wines, but ones you drink. They have over the last few years progressed the renewal of the barrels of the domaine - there is still very little actual new wood, 5% new wood on the premiers crus, and 10% on the Grands crus, but they have replaced the oldest barrels which they have come to understand did have an effect of closing the wines down.
