Much less gourmand, it has a mineral roundness and fat, and also a firm stiff-backed straightness. "Very calcaire" says Thibault, "this is a real Grand Cru". L&S (Jan 2008)

Good full red. Reduced smoky, meaty nose. A step up in lift and juiciness from the Rognet, with a suave, fine-grained texture and enticing inner-mouth aromatic character. Offers a pleasing combination of supple texture and energy. Finishes with broad, ripe tannins. Showing very well considering that it was racked three days before my visit. This too is very strongly reduced and the nose is unreadable but the forward, rich, full and intense flavors are broad-shouldered but don't seem to have the same depth of material as the Rognets yet it's even longer. The lack of the word 'domaine' in the name signals that this is a négociant wine from Thibault Liger-Belair. On the whole Thibault buys grapes having tended the vines with his own team, so that the wines are domaine wines in all but name.
