Beautifully fragrant Pinot Noir: slightly floral with sweet cherries and raspberries; concentrated red-berry sweetness on the palate; quite mouthfilling and supple, but still showing some youthful tannin and acidity. Long. Drink over the next five years (April 2009) Rating: 92 The Wine Gang - www.thewinegang.com (Apr 2010)

Good deep red. Subtly complex aromas of dark fruits, spices, licorice, leather, mint and bitter chocolate. Altogether sweeter and lusher than the Clos du Roi, conveying an impression of cleaner fruit and greater flavor intensity. Spreads out nicely on the back end, finishing with riper tannins, more length and lingering notes of licorice and mint. Rating: 90 Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (Mar 2009)

Good deep red. Ripe black cherry and smoke on the nose. A step up in sweetness and lushness, with lovely purity and impressive concentration to the flavors of black cherry, dark raspberry and smoke. This is downright silky for the year. Finishes very long and broad, with fine tannins and impressive aromatic persistence. This two-hectare holding produced the "best-looking grapes" in 2006, noted Boillot, who said that little sorting was required here. But due to millerandage, he'll have just 20 barrels in 2006, vs. a normal 40 or 42. For years, this has been one of my go-to wines in restaurants in Burgundy. Rating: 89-92 Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (Mar 2008)

Domaine Henri Boillot

A domaine which dates to 1885, but which began properly in the early years of the 20th century under the current Henri's grandfather (also Henri). His son, Jean, was the one who really developed it. Henri arrived in 1975 and worked his way up, becoming the winemaker. In 2000 he began the building of the new winery at the bottom of Meursault, and he then bought out his brother and sister to keep the domaine as one, renaming it from 'Domaine Jean Boillot' to 'Domaine Henri Boillot' to avoid confusion with his brother Jean-Marc's domaine.

The Domaine totals around 14 hectares, with roughly equal surfaces of red and white, and of which just under 4ha is the Monopole vineyard of Clos de la Mouchère, a walled enclave within the premier Cru Puligny Perrières. The 2017 vintage saw the arrival of two new parcels of Grand Cru red, in Échezeaux and Latricières Chambertin
