Good deep ruby-red. Complex, musky aromas of dark raspberry, minerals and roast coffee. Sweeter and more open-knit than the Champs-Perdrix, with open-knit red fruit flavors framed by bright acidity. The Perrot-Minot 2008 Chambolle Musigny Les Echanges Vieilles Vignes smells of ripe blackberries with resinous, caramelized suggestions of maple syrup, and a smoky, sweet intimation of machine oil. Combining overt density and metaphorically sinister flavor shadings with an invigorating dash of salt and refreshing flow of tart berry fruit, this fits a stylistic pattern for the present collection, with faintly bitter, earthy notes of fruit pit, beet root, and espresso, and black tea lending fascinating complexity to its long finish. A background touch of wood frames a fragrant nose of pure and lightly spiced plum and violet aromas that lead to refined, elegant and quite finely detailed flavors that possess a real sense of verve and underlying tension on the dusty and persistent finish. Christophe Perrot-Minot is now the fourth generation of his family producing wine on the estate after his great grandfather Amédée Merme devoted himself to the management and production of wine over 130 years ago. The estate has gone from strength to strength – always keeping the highest standards. Integrated viticulture has been practiced for many years now which has been adapted especially for the terroir. No herbicide or chemical fertilizer is used, instead, Christophe prefers to “stand back and listen to this terroir, only intervening when necessary or when the weather requires it, never systematically.” Visit Website
