Bright ruby, so the black as night fruit expression is a surprise. Very fresh and pure and quite serious, quite chewily concentrated, with some fairly hairy tannins on the finish, but the fruit balance is there. Should be good value as ever. Rating: 91-91 L&S (Apr 2010)

There is sweetness on the nose with behind it racier, fresher bilberry. Rich ripe black plum gives fleshy weight to the palate balanced by fresh mainly black fruits and underpinned by tannins which provide structure but are not hard or aggressive. 2016-30 Rating: 88-92 Derek Smedley MW, 2013)

Le second vin de l'Eglise Clinet possède un fruité très pur, une longueur charnue et une harmonie générale sans aucune lourdeur. Rating: 16.5 TAST, Bettane & Desseauve(Jun 2010)

This pure Merlot has a delightful, beautifully defined nose where the terroir of Pomerol shine through probably better than any other vintage of La Petite Eglise. The palate is well balanced, superb definition, taut and very natural, lovely blackberry, raspberry leaf and a touch of burnt toast towards the linear, but unreservedly elegant finish. Superb. Rating: 91-93 Neal Martin, 2010)

100% Merlot. A lovely nose, very classic in style. Honeyed and rather complex fruit, roasted plum skins, overall it seems quite delicious. Lots of peppery substance on the palate, fresh and bright, although there is quite a deep style of fruit, slightly plump, with ripe and appropriate - if a touch chewy - tannins. Should make good drinking, and may well offer good value too looking at previous vintages. Rating: 17-18+ Chris Kissack, 2010)

Very smart and flattering and subtle. Very lively. 100% Merlot. Quite sleek and even a bit skinny. Fresh but far from sumptuous. Dances. 2015-2023 Rating: 16 Jancis Robinson MW OBE - 2010)

Fine, fragrant with a lively freshness. Remarkably clean and balanced but without the density of the top wines. Drink 2014-2022. Rating: ***15.5 2010)
