Very mineral. Big, but not really on fruit flavours - this is all about rock. Even a salty tang on the finish. Intense yet easy, gliding. Huge aromatic complexity, apparently with no effort. The ghostly essence of the rock though Pinot. L&S (Nov 2010)

Ripe sweet black fruit gives a fleshy richness on the nose and sweetness on the start of the palate. It is deep serious with layers of flavours, bramble and black cherry backed by mulberry. The tannin ripeness allows the richness of the fruit to give a sensuous fleshiness on the back palate. 2013-22 Rating: 93 Derek Smedley MW, 2013)

The 2009 Mayozères-Chambertin emerges from the glass with silky, perfumed red fruit. It possesses striking inner perfume and plenty of freshness in an attractive, medium-bodied style that is undeniably appealing. Floral notes add brightness and lift on the expressive, resonant finish. The Mayozères is soft, sensual and totally beautiful. 2019-2029 Rating: 94 Antonio Galloni, 2013)

Closed nose. Medium-bodied, concentrated and tightly structured, with fine tannins, but seems rather one-dimensional now. Good acidity and length. Drink 2014-2022. Rating: ****17.5 Stephen Brook, 2011)

There is mild reduction here as well but it does not significantly hinder the evaluation of the spicy dark berry fruit and pungent earth aromas that precede the textured, intense and mouth coating big-bodied and overtly muscular flavors which are naturally sweet, rich and powerful with fine but dense tannins that shape the wonderfully persistent finish. Despite the reduction, it’s clear that this is a dramatic wine that possesses excellent depth of character. 2026+ Rating: 92-94 Allen Meadows, 2011)

Dark red. Wild aromas of blackberry, licorice, coffee and animal fur. Lush and sweet on entry, then expansive in the middle, with dark berry flavors supported by a strong structure. This is really stuffed with fruit, and there's enough energy here to avoid coming off as heavy. Finishes with big, broad, dusty tannins and superb lingering sweetness. An excellent showing today, but this should be even better for a decade in the cellar. Rating: 94 Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar(Jan 2011)

Domaine Christophe Perrot-Minot

Christophe Perrot-Minot is now the fourth generation of his family producing wine on the estate after his great grandfather Amédée Merme devoted himself to the management and production of wine over 130 years ago. The estate has gone from strength to strength – always keeping the highest standards. Integrated viticulture has been practiced for many years now which has been adapted especially for the terroir. No herbicide or chemical fertilizer is used, instead, Christophe prefers to “stand back and listen to this terroir, only intervening when necessary or when the weather requires it, never systematically.” Visit Website
