Very mineral. Big, but not really on fruit flavours - this is all about rock. Even a salty tang on the finish. Intense yet easy, gliding. Huge aromatic complexity, apparently with no effort. The ghostly essence of the rock though Pinot. L&S (Nov 2010)

Ripe sweet black fruit gives a fleshy richness on the nose and sweetness on the start of the palate. It is deep serious with layers of flavours, bramble and black cherry backed by mulberry. The tannin ripeness allows the richness of the fruit to give a sensuous fleshiness on the back palate. 2013-22 Rating: 93 Derek Smedley MW, www.dereksmedleymw.co.uk (Dec 2013)

The 2009 Mayozères-Chambertin emerges from the glass with silky, perfumed red fruit. It possesses striking inner perfume and plenty of freshness in an attractive, medium-bodied style that is undeniably appealing. Floral notes add brightness and lift on the expressive, resonant finish. The Mayozères is soft, sensual and totally beautiful. 2019-2029 Rating: 94 Antonio Galloni, www.vinous.com (Nov 2013)

Closed nose. Medium-bodied, concentrated and tightly structured, with fine tannins, but seems rather one-dimensional now. Good acidity and length. Drink 2014-2022. Rating: ****17.5 Stephen Brook, Decanter.com (Feb 2011)

Domaine Christophe Perrot-Minot

Christophe Perrot-Minot is now the fourth generation of his family producing wine on the estate after his great grandfather Amédée Merme devoted himself to the management and production of wine over 130 years ago. The estate has gone from strength to strength – always keeping the highest standards. Integrated viticulture has been practiced for many years now which has been adapted especially for the terroir. No herbicide or chemical fertilizer is used, instead, Christophe prefers to “stand back and listen to this terroir, only intervening when necessary or when the weather requires it, never systematically.” This is one of the star domaines of the whole of Burgundy.
