2010 1er Cru Champs Martin Domaine Bruno Lorenzon

Grapes Pinot Noir
Colour Red
Origin France, Burgundy
District Côte Chalonnaise
Village Mercurey
Classification 1er Cru
ABV 12.5%
Vineyard Champs Martin

From the excellent 2010 vintage, this verges on 93 points (gold) and may well get there – it's by no means fully mature, although make no mistake it's delicious to drink now. The nose is Burgundian Pinot at its most savoury, with an earthy, smoky, almost leathery character. The palate is all concentration and length with fruit purity and intensity, silky texture and nutty, smoky bacon notes. Rating: 92 The Wine Gang - www.thewinegang.com (Oct 2017)

Domaine Bruno Lorenzon

One of life's movers and shakers, Bruno was also involved in a cooperage and while he has now left, he retains the distribution rights in South Africa, where he also makes wine. His small domaine is kept like a garden, and he makes completely exceptional wines almost for the pleasure of being able to. Bruno says "emotion is the key" in making wine exciting.
