2011 Serraboella Cigliuti
Following the Via Erte this is a huge step up in intensity and concentration. Wow. From 35-55 year old vines grown on chalk and limestone there is real class here. Deep dense fruit, but beautifully-poised ripeness. There is a lovely scent of herbs, thyme and toasty undergrowth, underlying the sweet, black cherries. There is a lovely gloss to the feel as the fruit comes together beautifully with the polished tannins, so the sensation is that this is more plump - but this is gorgeous, sexy stuff from Claudia - very enticing Nebbiolo. L&S (Sep 2016)

Substantial and heady with great sumptuousness of fruit. Drinking range: 2017 - 2030 Rating: 16.5 Jancis Robinson MW OBE - www.JancisRobinson.com(Sep 2016)
This is enticing for the creamy texture that embraces the cherry, plum, leather and underbrush notes. Has power, along with dense, tightly wound tannins that lend a burly feel. Drinking range: 2018 - 2029 Rating: 92-92 Bruce Sanderson, The Wine Spectator(Jan 2016)
A Barbaresco Serraboella '11 of enthralling depth and great prospects for the future. Rating: Tre Bicchieri Gambero Rosso(Oct 2015)
A deep, dense Barbaresco, the 2011 Serraboella wraps around the palate with superb depth and structure. Dark red stone fruits, leather, tobacco, smoke, licorice and menthol are some of the many notes that shape in the glass. The 2011 boasts gorgeous depth and intensity from start to finish. Sweet floral and spice notes round out the super expressive finish. The 2011 should open up sooner than the 2010, but it also has more than enough denesity to drink well for many years. Overall, this is a relatively floral, delicate Barbaresco from the Serraboella district. The 2011 spent 26 months in oak, 70% tonneau and 30% in cask. Drinking range: 2017 - 2031 Rating: 94+ Antonio Galloni, www.vinous.com(Oct 2014)
Sisters Claudia and Silvia Cigliuti took over the running of this vineyard from their father Renato. He was the first member of the family to begin bottling his own wine, back in 1964, roughly the same time as other pioneers in the region like Giacosa, but the family can trace its roots on this land back to the late eighteenth century.
Most of the vineyard and the winery is on the Serraboella hill, looking over Neive from the east, and it is the Barbaresco Serraboella which is the flagship wine of the estate. This hill, composed of calcareous marl and tufa soils, gives classic wines which combine the textural finesse of clay and the length and longevity of wines from limestone. The vineyards are tended by the family, by hand, with low yields to ensure full ripeness every year.
