2011 Pomerol

Grapes Cab Franc, Merlot
Colour Red
Origin France, Bordeaux
Sub-district Pomerol & Lalande de Pomerol
Village Pomerol

Far more refreshing and open than the 2010 and 2009, but there is a related lack of oomph to the fruit. The firm tannins sit apart from the fruit, leaving an astringent finish. Drinking range: 2018 - 2028 Rating: 16 Richard Hemming MW - (Apr 2018)

A strong effort from this estate situated near the small church in Pomerol, the 2011 Clos l’Eglise displays a healthy dense ruby/purple color along with fleshy black cherry and black raspberry aromas intermixed with notions of barrique, earth and spice. Medium to full-bodied, pure and savory, this delicious fruit-forward effort reveals surprising flesh as well as length. Drink it over the next 10-15 years. Rating: 90-93 Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, (May 2012)
