Dark fruit, intensity and a kind of feral weight, which is nonetheless pure. Looking good for seven or eight years' time. L&S (Jan 2013)

Medium red. Deep perfume of black cherry and flowers. Dense, tactile and savory; broader-shouldered than the Marechaudes, showing more soil-driven mineral, crushed stone and moist earth character. Deep and quite dry. Not fleshy today but very imploded. Offers excellent potential. Rating: 90-93 Stephen Tanzer, www.vinousmedia.com (Dec 2014)

(20% vendange entier; 10% new oak): Good bright red. Ripe raspberry and graphite aromas are perked up by a whiff of blood orange. Supple, sappy and intense, with an exotic suggestion of spun sugar leavened by a slightly herbal quality that carries through to the saline, firm finish. Very fresh wine, particularly in light of its high 3.8 pH, and in need of a good four or five years of cellaring. Rating: 91 Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (Mar 2014)

(three separate plantings with an average vine age of about 35 years). Here too there is a deft touch of wood that is sufficiently slight so as to allow the slightly more elegant and perfumed red berry fruit, earth and stone aromas to shine. The cool, pure and more obviously mineral-inflected flavors also possess a bit more size and weight and while the lingering and well balanced finish is moderately austere, this is actually relatively civilized for a young Bressandes. 2023+ Rating: 91-93 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Apr 2013)

Domaine Chandon de Briailles

One of the great family domaines of the Côte d'Or, housed in the remarkable manor house at Savigny, with excellent holdings in Savigny itself and in neighbouring Pernand and on the hill of Corton. Organic since 1988 and, now, biodynamic (fully certified by Demeter and Ecocert). It is run by brother and sister François and Claude de Nicolaÿ. As François explains, they do not make 'bêtes de concours' or competition wines, but ones you drink. They have over the last few years progressed the renewal of the barrels of the domaine - there is still very little actual new wood, 5% new wood on the premiers crus, and 10% on the Grands crus, but they have replaced the oldest barrels which they have come to understand did have an effect of closing the wines down.
