88% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc 13.65%. Fresh but 'plain' vinous nose. Palate surprises. There is volume and a certain freshness, blackberry coulis, silky, but still a little drying on the finish, and slightly flat too. Rating: 88 L&S (Apr 2012)

The 2011 Fugue de Nenin is a straightforward, one-dimensional, but attractive, elegant effort offering berry fruit and leafy herb characteristics as well as an easy-going finish. The Fugue de Nénin is a blend of 88% Merlot and 12% Cabernet Franc. It has a light bouquet with floral raspberry and citrus fruit. The palate is smooth and harmonious on the entry with a nice savoury touch lent by the Cabernet Franc. It has pert acidity that lends it a fine crisp, focused finish that is better than recent vintages. Rating: 87-89 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Apr 2012)
Rather a meaty edge to the fruit here, and the style is very redolent of dried plums, with rather warm suggestions to it. The same warmth comes through on the fruit-rich palate, with piles of charcoaly tannin.
