(from 3 separate parcels augmented with some purchased fruit; destemmed). Here the nose offers a big step up in aromatic elegance with its cool and admirably pure red currant and spice scents. There is evident minerality on the equally refined middle weight flavors that possess fine delineation on the clean, restrained and attractively persistent finish. Lovely and very Chambolle. 2019+ Rating: 89-91 Allen Meadows, 2014)

(mostly from purchased grapes; vinified with about 5% whole clusters): Palish cherry-red. Pungent aromas of candied raspberry, peppermint, pepper, herbs and rose petal, plus a whiff of spearmint. On the lean side but boasts good intensity. Finishes spicy, savory and persistent, with a chewy quality and late notes of herbs and spices. Rating: 87-89 Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar(Jan 2014)

The nose is light fragrant red fruited and the start of the palate is the same fresh with more of a red fruited influence. It fills out in the middle sweet ripe fruit quite fleshy and rich yet the back palate and finish have the lightness and freshness of red fruits. 2014-20 Rating: 92 Derek Smedley MW, 2014)

Pale crimson. Light, pure, slightly skinny nose. Marked acidity. The fine tannins beat the fruit on the palate. Serviceable. Quite impressive persistence. 2015-2020 Rating: 15.5 Jancis Robinson MW OBE - 2014)

The 2012 Chambolle-Musigny Village already offers plenty of wild strawberry and raspberry on the nose, combined with cold stones and a smidgen of sous-bois. This feels a little rustic, but there is nothing wrong with that. The palate is medium-bodied with a succulent entry, nicely poised acidity and a silky smooth texture. This is extremely focused and almost Vosne-like in style, a deftly made Chambolle-Musigny that actually challenges the premier cru. Rating: 89-91 Neal Martin, 2014)

Joseph Drouhin

Despite the size of their vineyard holding, not all Drouhin's wines come from their own domaine, but most of the other wines do come from long-term contracts, such as exists with the Marquis de Laguiche wines. In all but name these wines are 'Domaine' wines, and the vineyards are cared for and the wines vinified with exactly the same care.
