Mostly from a deep soil just below les Bussières. 40% whole bunch, and this shows at once in the nose as a spicy sweetness. Lovely broad velvety fruit. Weighty yet with no apparent 'effort'. Really rather gorgeous. L&S (Dec 2013)

(from 50+ year old vines, 50% whole cluster). An intensely floral nose features notes of cranberry, red currant, spice and violets. Chambolle-Musigny, Vieilles Vignes 50% whole bunch and this is from Les Drazey (more limestone soil) and Gamaires under Bussieres (more a clay soil). 60-68 year old vines. Darker violet perfume. A domaine of 11 hectares, 25% regionals, 50% Villages, 20% Premiers crus and 5% Grands Crus. Virgile Lignier's wines have a lovely combination of enough body and richness, combined with a lively clarity of expression. The old vines village cuvées are seriously good, and great value too. Going up the scale each site seems to speak very clearly of its source and there is a brightness and energy along with full, seamless fruit.
