Mostly from a deep soil just below les Bussières. 40% whole bunch, and this shows at once in the nose as a spicy sweetness. Lovely broad velvety fruit. Weighty yet with no apparent 'effort'. Really rather gorgeous. L&S (Dec 2013)

Rating: 93 Tim Atkin MW, www.timatkin.com(Jan 2014)
Spicy, sweet vanilla, opulent, flashy fruit. Held together with a nice savoury structure – but the sweetness of the fruit is a defining factor. 2014-2018 Rating: 16 Richard Hemming MW - www.JancisRobinson.com(Jan 2014)
(vinified with about 40% whole clusters; no pigeage for this wine in 2012): Bright medium red. Very ripe aromas and flavors of red cherry and redcurrant. In a distinctly creamy, tender style, showing good extract and a rather soft finish. A very gently extracted wine Rating: 87-89 Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar(Jan 2014)
(from 50+ year old vines, 50% whole cluster). An intensely floral nose features notes of cranberry, red currant, spice and violets. There is lovely detail and energy to the lightly mineral-inflected middle weight flavors that possess a lacy mouth feel, all wrapped in a lingering and mildly austere finish. 2017+ Rating: 87-89 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com(Jan 2014)
Chambolle-Musigny, Vieilles Vignes 50% whole bunch and this is from Les Drazey (more limestone soil) and Gamaires under Bussieres (more a clay soil). 60-68 year old vines. Darker violet perfume. Spicy. Juicy middle palate, soft tannins. There is some structure here too and some minerality on the finish. Nice fresh end. From 2016. Rating: 15.45 Sarah Marsh MW, The Burgundy Briefing(Dec 2013)
A domaine of 11 hectares, 25% regionals, 50% Villages, 20% Premiers crus and 5% Grands Crus. Virgile Lignier worked at the domaine with his father Maurice from 1988, beginning to bottle some of the wine from 1992 (it had previously been sold to the négoce), taking over in 2000, which was the vintage when he first bottled all the domaine's production.
In the vineyard Virgile made significant changes, stopping the use of herbicides, and beginning to plough instead. Green harvesting to limits yields followed, along with greater attention to grape selection. The domaine works organically except in extremis.
The wines have a lovely combination of enough body and richness, combined with a lively clarity of expression. The old vines village cuvées are seriously good, and great value too. Going up the scale each site seems to speak very clearly of its source and there is a brightness and energy along with full, seamless fruit.
