CHÂTEAU HAUT PLANTEY
2012 Grand Cru Saint Emilion
|Grapes||Merlot, Cab Sauv, Cab Franc|
|Sub-district||Saint Emilion & Satellites|
The 'second wine' produced on the Saint Emilion property of Jacques and Fiona ('Le Pin') Thienpont, which they bought in 2009. The vineyard is high up on the top of the limestone ridge of Saint Emilion, next to Troplong Mondot. This 2012 has a dark soft-fruited nose, a suprisingly volume on the front of the palate, rich supple body and good juice from the mid-palate which makes one long to swallow. All in all rather gorgeous. Drinking range: 2015 - 2020 L&S (Nov 2016)
*Case Price: Mix any 12 bottles of wine or 6 bottles of Champagne, Spirits or Fortified to get the 'case price' for each bottle.
Whether it's the classic Christmas spread, carols at midnight, Christmas morning walks in the park, some Old Classic on the telly, or giggling with great auntie Mary in paper hats - if there's one thing we like at Christmas, it's tradition. And nothing is more traditional than a good old bottle of claret. The red wines of Bordeaux come into their own when there's a roast on the table. Whether its something fowl or a hunk of roast beef, a drop of claret is waiting to accompany it. In this selection from across the region, we go from the cedary solid Cabernet Sauvignon dominated delights of the Haut-Médoc to the warm rounded comfort of the Merlot inspired Libournais. It's all delicious, it's all ready to drink; you want it all, you know you do. Its traditional for a reason! Packed in smart Lea & Sandeman case, this makes a great Christmas gift too.
