Tasted at the Chateau in their wonderful room which makes you feel like you have just arrived at Raffles or some comfortable colonial club in the early 1950s. There is a good whiff of oak initially but the palate is lively with lovely zip and brighty limey fruit. The weight gains and the fruit becomes more tropical, a little broader and riper - but finishes with good clean lines and lovely lift. It comes from a vineyard 11km up the Médoc, by Goulée. The Cos Blanc is a blend of 77% Sauvignon Blanc and 23% Semillon with a pH of 3.10. It has a fresh lemon thyme-scented bouquet with lime and bruised apple scents emerging with time. The palate is crisp and leesy on the entry. It has a decent minerality and length, although it is missing just a little tension towards the sherbet-tinged effervescent finish. Made from 77% Sauvignon Blanc and 23% Semillon, this terrific effort was cropped at 25 hectoliters per hectare. From the same vineyard in the northern Medoc as their Goulee, it exhibits plenty of crushed rock, honeyed grapefruit and tangerine oil characteristics in a medium-bodied, zesty, vibrant, exuberant style.
