(from two parcels, one 50- and the other 60-year-old vines): Good medium-deep red. Reduced aromas of redcurrant and nutty oak. Smooth and lightly saline in the mouth, with modest acidity to the redcurrant and smoke flavors; doesn't quite come alive. More saline than fruity on the finish, with dusty tannins. Rating: 86-88 Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (Jan 2014)

(from Les Seuvrées and Les Murots; 100% whole cluster). An overtly spicy and floral nose displays moderately high-toned red berry, earth and underbrush aromas that express a softly sauvage character as well. There is lovely delineation to the mineral-inflected medium-bodied flavors that possess a cool and admirably pure mouth feel, all wrapped in a gorgeously complex and lengthy finish. This is an excellent Gevrey villages. 2019+ Rating: 89-91 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jan 2014)

Les Seuvrees and – will have to check next time…it’s a blend of two parcels. A touch of smokiness on the nose; dark with a whiff of lead pencil and silky palate on the front; smooth and supple, it sweeps elegantly on the palate. It is subtle and supple. Woven with freshness on the finish. This has intension and energy on the finish. The tannins sit neatly in the fruit. I like this. Rating: 16.5 Sarah Marsh MW, The Burgundy Briefing (Dec 2013)

Domaine Lignier-Michelot

A domaine of 11 hectares, 25% regionals, 50% Villages, 20% Premiers crus and 5% Grands Crus. Virgile Lignier's wines have a lovely combination of enough body and richness, combined with a lively clarity of expression. The old vines village cuvées are seriously good, and great value too. Going up the scale each site seems to speak very clearly of its source and there is a brightness and energy along with full, seamless fruit.
