Moderately saturated red. Deep rich aromas of redcurrant, smoky dark chocolate-covered plum, vanilla, mocha and grilled meat. Silky-sweet on entry, then fine-grained and creamy in the middle. Boasts outstanding density and an exhilarating acid/tannin/fruit balance. Closes long and suave with a strong note of vanilla and other oaky spices. You can tell this was aged in smaller oak barrels (500 liter tonneaux). Drinking range: 2021 - 2031 Rating: 94 L&S(Mar 2019)

Mid to light ruby with bricky rim. This is wonderfully on the cusp between fruity and starting to show a more savoury, mature character. Some woodland, some spice, and a hint of umami. Chewy but really smooth. Still very youthful but hinting at much greater complexity to come. Lots of spice on the finish and even a touch of something floral. Very hard to describe in this transition phase. Drinking range: 2019 - 2030 Rating: 17.5+ Julia Harding MW, www.JancisRobinson.com(May 2019)
This offers dried red cherries along with dried meat and some very savory, herbal and leafy notes. The palate has smooth cherry and cedar flavors with an impressive, fresh finish. Drink or hold. Drinking range: 2019 - Rating: 90-90 James Suckling, www.jamessuckling.com(Feb 2019)
Collemattoni: Full Wine List and Profile
This is a tiny seven hectare estate in San Angelo in Colle, on the southern side of the hill of Montalcino, nestling above the famous and rather larger Col d'Orcia vineyards (145 hectares). Marcello Bucci, who studied oenology under Signora Fuligni (Roberto Fuligni's aunt), is making wonderfully good wines which have rapidly increased both in quality and international recognition. A new winery finished in time for the harvest in 2015 has given Marcello greater control and flexibility with the wine-making - this is an estate going from strength to strength The wines from these vineyards are fuller and riper, though perhaps marginally less fine than, say, Fuligni's, but what they lack in finesse is more than compensated for in the pricing, making Collemattoni one of the best value wines of the region.
