2013 Grand Cru Saint Emilion

(100% merlot): Good full medium ruby-red. Enticing aromas of red fruits, truffle and underbrush. Juicy and sweet but firm, with red fruit flavors displaying good ripeness for the year but a bit camouflaged today by the wine's bright acidity and serious mouthcoating tannins. From Denis Durantou, this pure Merlot picked on 28 and 29 September has a delicate, floral bouquet with perfumed violet scents emerging. The palate is medium-bodied with rounded and soft tannins. There is plenty of straightforward dark plum and blackcurrant fruit, leading to an unassuming but well-balanced, easy-drinking finish. This is a wine that will be built for pleasure.
