Touch fuller than the Lechet, good intensity, notes of citrus, but also peach. Palate is lively and quite juicy, peach, lemon then stony grip, nice depth, breadth and length (tasted from barrel). L&S (Nov 2015)

(from a 1.8 ha parcel that is divided roughly 50/50 between Beauroy proper and Côte de Troëmes). A slightly riper nose reflects notes of white orchard fruit, mineral reduction and iodine nuances. There is good freshness and energy to the medium-bodied flavors that are tighter than usual, all wrapped in a citrusy, focused and very clean finish. This is not a wine of finesse but I like the frank and direct character. Note that this too should drink reasonably well young but also reward mid-term cellaring. This too is excellent and well worth considering. 2021+ Rating: 92 Allen Meadows, 2017)

Very pale yellow with green highlights. Very tight lemony nose. Brisk and pure but youthfully austere, with the flavors of lemon, stone and menthol revealing limited nuance in the early going. This is actually smoother than the Côte de Léchet but less expressive today. Finishes with strong lemony tang. Rating: 89-92 Stephen Tanzer, 2015)

Domaine Laurent Tribut

Laurent Tribut is married to Vincent Dauvissat's sister, Marie Clotilde. When he started he made his wines in the Dauvissat cellar in Chablis, but now this small family-run domaine is based in Poinchy just outside the city limits of Chablis. You could not hope to meet a more charming and mild-mannered man as Laurent. He is a quiet genius, making some of the purest and most classical wines in the appellation. This year it was great to get to know 3 (Solange, Adeline and Gabriel) of Laurent's 4 children who all now work with him. and with his guidance the future here looks very bright. With just 6 hectares the quantities are small - but the quality of all his cuvées is extraordinary. Pure, powerfully driven, classically shaped there is more than a passing similarity to the wines of his brother-in-law the head-line grabbing Vincent Dauvissat. Buyers will enjoy these super wines with some time in bottle too - they have a great ability to age and patience will pay off, we recently tasted the 1er Cru Cote de Lechet 2004 with Laurent in his cellar and it was bright, young and full of vigour - nearly 15 years on. This is brilliant, classic Chablis made by a quiet maestro.
