Village Chambolle Musigny

Rich nose for a Chambolle, silky, ample, fresh and full. There's a mid-palate sweetness and floral, lifted fruit. Drinking range: 2019 - L&S (Nov 2015)

*Case price: Mix any 12 bottles of wine or 6 bottles of Champagne, Spirits or Fortified to get the 'case price' for each bottle.

Dark red. Wild, musky aromas of strawberry, raspberry, mocha and complex soil tones. A juicy, energetic midweight with spicy, peppery lift to its red berry flavors (this wine was vinified with 40% whole clusters). This shapely village wine, which struck me as a bit dry-edged from barrel in late 2015, has turned out well and should provide relatively early pleasure. Drinking range: 2020 - 2026 Rating: 89 Stephen Tanzer, www.vinousmedia.com(Mar 2017)

The 2014 Chambolle Musigny Vieilles Vignes includes 50% whole cluster fruit this year. It has a crisp, well defined, quite stony bouquet that is nicely defined. The palate is medium-bodied with a pleasant saline entry, quite supple tannins, yet a linear, Morey-like finish that has just a prickle of spice on the aftertaste. Give this a year in bottle. Drinking range: 2017 - 2030 Rating: 89-91 Neal Martin, www.robertparker.com(Dec 2015)

50% whole bunch and this is from Les Drazey (more limestone soil under Sentieres) and Gamaires under Bussieres (more a clay soil on MSD). 60-68 year old vines. Ripe raspberry aromas. Sweet and fruity upfront. Very juicy…succulence in the mid palate. Soft and smooth tannins… perfumed sweet finish. Decent finish for a village wine. A very ‘typical’ Chambolle. Rating: 16 Sarah Marsh MW, The Burgundy Briefing(Nov 2015)

Domaine Lignier-Michelot

A domaine of 11 hectares, 25% regionals, 50% Villages, 20% Premiers crus and 5% Grands Crus. Virgile Lignier's wines have a lovely combination of enough body and richness, combined with a lively clarity of expression. The old vines village cuvées are seriously good, and great value too. Going up the scale each site seems to speak very clearly of its source and there is a brightness and energy along with full, seamless fruit.
