A very mineral Morgeot - lots of mâche and chew. Really wonderful slow build-up of power and richness and mineral intensity to go with it. Really impressive length. Drinking range: 2020 - L&S (Nov 2015)

Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting, Drouhin's 2014 Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot Marquis de Laguiche has a crisp, vivacious bouquet with scents of Golden Delicious, white peach and subtle mineral scents. The palate is fresh and crisp on the entry, quite compact at this youthful stage with a waxy-textured, quite pithy finish that at least retains commendable definition. Very fine and it improved with aeration, therefore I would allow this another couple of years to develop. Drinking range: 2019 - 2032 Rating: 93 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Nov 2017)

Aromas of orange peel, almond flower and wild herbs; showing more spicy oak influence than the Embrazées. An elegant, fine-grained style, with lime and soft citrus flavors firmed and lifted by spices on the dry finish. This vibrant, rather palate-staining wine needs time to absorb its oak element. Drinking range: 2018 - 2026 Rating: 91 Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (Sept 2016)

14 months in oak. Interesting, definite appley aroma here, along with creamy oak overlay, some spice and minerality. Quince fruit. Much better concentration than on the Puligny Folatières but still elegant. Dry, tight and mouth-watering. Drinking range: 2017 - 2024 Rating: 16.5 Jancis Robinson OBE MW - www.JancisRobinson.com (Jan 2016)

Joseph Drouhin

Despite the size of their vineyard holding, not all Drouhin's wines come from their own domaine, but most of the other wines do come from long-term contracts, such as exists with the Marquis de Laguiche wines. In all but name these wines are 'Domaine' wines, and the vineyards are cared for and the wines vinified with exactly the same care.
