|Grapes||Cab Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cab Sauv|
Having tasted several Margaux wines before this - the change in intensity comes as somewhat a shock. Wham, this is serious, intense, deep dark fruit, whiff of nutmeg and nice oaky spice. Good lines, polished fruit and lovely balance. Properly crafted claret. Impressive. Drinking range: 2018 - 2023 Rating: 91 L&S (Apr 2015)

The 2014 Clos Manou is dark and intense, but also shows an element of restraint that balances things out. Black cherry, plum, tobacco, spice and herbs all grace the palate in a super-expressive and delicious wine that shows just how appealing the 2014s of the northern Médoc can be. The blend is 52 % Merlot, 40 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 6 % Petit Verdot and 2 % Cabernet Franc. Drinking range: 2018 - 2027 Rating: 91 Antonio Galloni, www.vinous.com(Feb 2017)
The 2014 Clos Manou is ripe, racy and sensual to the core. Raspberry jam, flowers, mint and sweet spices are all laced together. Supple and forward, the 2014 will drink well right out of gate. The style is intense, mouthfilling and juicy. In 2014, the blend is 52% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc. Look for Clos Manou to be another overachiever from the northern Médoc in 2014. Rating: 89-92 Antonio Galloni, www.vinous.com(May 2015)
The Clos Manou 2014 is a blend of 52% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc. It has an elegant, refined bouquet, with the 70% new oak deftly integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, supple tannin, crisp and quite minerally black fruit with a ripe and generous finish. There is a nice symmetry here. Excellent. Drinking range: 2018 - 2030 Rating: 89-91 Neal Martin, www.robertparker.com(May 2015)
Good clarity and depth – always an attractive Médoc. Drinking range: 2017 - 2022 Rating: 16 Decanter Magazine(Apr 2015)
Leather and berry character with mushroom undertones. Dense and gorgeous. Handmade wine. Rating: 90-91 James Suckling, www.jamessuckling.com(Mar 2015)
"We turned our garage into a makeshift wine cellar and made our first wine in 1998.” Françoise and Stéphane Dief. Which sounds impossibly idyllic! In a region of grand estates with long complicated histories the arrivistes of Clos Manou are a refreshing change. Starting with just .12ha of vines, the Diefs have patiently spent 15 years building their holding up to 18ha, along the way absorbing the obscure Cru Bourgeois of Château Cantegrive. The estate may be 'new' but amongst their holdings are Bordeaux’s oldest vines – they have a small pre-phylloxera parcel from the 1850’s. The estate is centred on the village of Saint-Christoly de Médoc in the increasingly popular area of the Haut-Médoc to the north of Saint Estèphe. All of Clos Manou’s vineyards are high-density plantings – some 10 000 vines per hectare – and all are converted to organic farming as soon as is practical. Grape variety proportions are 45% each Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with 6% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot. The first wine is aged in 100% new wood. The second wine is called Petit Manou.
