Delicious beetroot and cumin aromatics with a good earthy undertone, this screams of class and complexity on the nose. The palate also has that savoury beetroot crunch with a delightful freshness and firm tannins. It's not the most generous of Felton Road's reds in terms of juicy fruit, but it's finely-tuned tannins and lengthy mineral finish demonstrate just why this is world class Pinot Noir. A very bright red cherry nose, super pure, very floral and also showing a gentle herbal thread too. Some leafy elements, gentle herbs and an underlying more savory earth and spice note too. The palate's supple, smooth, very light, even and glossy; an easygoing wine that has a polished surface, smooth and bright, red cherry and some darker plum notes here too. Drink now. Generous and expressive, with spiced plum, date bread and vanilla bean flavors that are rich and ripe, with fleshy, velvety tannins and plenty of clove and fresh earth details. Calcareous loess. 12-year-old vines. More scented and lifted on the nose, very fine-boned but much more open and revealing than the Calvert even now.
