(15.3% alcohol; aged for 18 months in all-new French oak): Bright, saturated ruby to the rim. Slightly porty aromas of cassis, blackberry, licorice and bitter chocolate. Plush and fine-grained but not especially sweet, with a light herbal element adding another dimension to its very ripe dark berry flavors. Showing less personality today than the 2014 Colección but this rather brooding, rich, youthfully medicinal Malbec has the density to reward patience. Spreads out impressively on the ripe back end, finishing with classic dryness. Drinking range: 2020 - 2027 Rating: 91 Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (Jul 2018)

This is a tannic and powerful red with linear backbone and blue fruits. A full-to-medium body, racy backbone and a long and intense finish. Shows focus and muscle. Rating: 94 James Suckling, www.jamessuckling.com (Mar 2018)

Cuvelier los Andes

The Cuvelier family were selling wines to the good folk of Northern France in the early years on the nineteenth Century. In 1903, with the purchase of the St Estèphe estate of Château le Crock, they moved into château ownership, crowning their move in 1920 by buying Château Leoville Poyferré. In the 1990s the family spread their wings all the way to Mendoza, initially working with Michel Rolland on his Clos de la Siete project. But, in 1999, they started to plant their own vineyards - Cuvelier los Andes - and began producing wine in 2003. Michel Rolland dutifully oversees winemaking, and spare grapes are still sold off to Clos de la Siete.
