LATRICIÈRES CHAMBERTIN

2014 Grand Cru Domaine Faiveley

EN PRIMEUR

Offers spicy cherry, smoke, tobacco and mineral aromas and flavors. Shows terrific intensity and balance, but needs time for all the elements to come together. Drinking range: 2021 - 2040 Rating: 94 Bruce Sanderson, The Wine Spectator (Feb 2017)

Dark red. Very pure but subdued aromas of black raspberry, bitter chocolate and minerals. Suave and wonderfully precise on the palate, conveying lovely inner-mouth rose petal lift to the flavors of raspberry and crushed-stone minerality. Totally different in style from the Clos Vougeot and Echézeaux and a step up in precision, finesse and sophistication. The very long, rising, saline finish perks up the taste buds. My projected score may prove to be overly conservative. Rating: 92-94 Stephen Tanzer, www.vinousmedia.com (Jan 2016)

Mid crimson. Lively red cherry fruit on the nose carried over to the palate. A little bit spirity on the nose. Firm but juicy, very supple, just enough fruit for the tannins. A little drying on the finish. Drinking range: 2018 - 2026 Rating: 16.5 Jancis Robinson OBE MW - www.JancisRobinson.com (Jan 2016)

Everything that a really good Latricières should be, showing the brightness, freshness and reserve of this under-rated Grand Cru. Chalky, subtle and silky with fine-grained tannins, succulent berry fruit and impressive finesse and palate length. Drinking range: 2017 - 2030 Rating: 96 Tim Atkin MW, www.timatkin.com (Jan 2016)

The Faiveley family are the largest vineyard owners in Burgundy, owning around 120ha, spread across the Côtes de Nuits, Beaune and Chalonnaise and encompassing everything from generic Bourgogne up to the grandest of Grand Crus. Their holdings supply the grapes for 5 out of every 6 bottles made by Faiveley, the balance being bought in from carefully selected contract growers.
