Origin France, Burgundy
District Côte d'Or
Sub-district Côte de Beaune
Village Pommard
Vineyard Vignots

Limestone again, and a wine which has some of the largeness and generosity of Joel's Beaunes as well as the more stretched and longer side of his Aloxe. Compactness of a Pommard from a mineral soil too. Tannins very present but never hard. Drinking range: 2018 - 2025 L&S (Nov 2015)

*Case price discount: Mix any 12 bottles (or 9l equivalent) of wine or 6 bottles of Champagne, Spirits or Fortified to get the 'case price' for each bottle.

Pale crimson. Again, some rather obvious sugariness on the nose but there is freshness afterwards. For early, uncomplicated drinking this is GV. Drinking range: 2017 - 2022 Rating: 16 Jancis Robinson MW OBE - www.JancisRobinson.com(Jan 2016)

The 2014 Pommard Vignots has a fragrant, floral bouquet that is actually quite similar to the Aloxe-Corton La Combe. I might have dialed down the new oak a little, but there is decent fruit lying behind. The palate is well balanced with supple red cherries and strawberry fruit, a slight tinny note on the tip of the tongue although that dissipates with time. This is a well crafted Vignots with the substance to suggest that it will give pleasure over several years. Drinking range: 2017 - 2025 Rating: 89 Neal Martin, www.robertparker.com(Jan 2016)

Domaine Joël Rémy

A family domaine that extends back five generations to 1853, but which Joël has modernised considerably over the past twenty years, installing new fermentation and ageing equipment. Over the years his vinifications have changed, and the wines have a lot more immediacy and precision. The quality of fruit is not in doubt, as lovers of his Bourgogne Rouge from year to year will attest, and a lot of work in the vineyard contributes to this, including leaf-thinning towards the end of the growing season. In the winery he has installed a vibrating sorting table, and the only filtering is by a lens filter at very low pressure to avoid de-naturing the wines. All offer quite striking value.

In 2016 Joël was joined full-time by both his children, Maxime and Manon. There is a renewed air of excitement and ambition here.
