The same blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon and Tocai Friulano from Patrizia Felluga's single vineyard, given ten months in French oak (Alliers) 'barriques'. Partrizia Felluga left the family business four years ago to set up on her own. She produces two wines from seven hectares of different varietals – an oaked and an unoaked version. This is the latter, a blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Friulano and Chardonnay. White fruit, floral and citrus aromas are followed by good texture, vitality and crisp acidity. We have long been fans of Patrizia Felluga's Vigne Bianco, the 2015 vintage of which we gave 90 points in December. This is an oak-aged version of the same Friulano, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc blend as the Vigne Bianco, where the fruit has been harvested a little later and the whole has an extra degree of richness and roundness, without stinting on the gently penetrating acidity and delicious fresh pear, and adding a touch of spice and subtle nuttiness. Just over 12 years ago Patrizia Felluga left the family business in order to buy her own property in the heart of the Collio and set about her ambition of making a 'terroir' based wine. Working now with her two children she is creating beautiful, crystaline wines with great character. Her seven hectares are planted with fifteen to thirty year old Friulano, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay and Sauvignon vines, from which she produces just two wines, each the same blend, one of which is oaked. Each variety is vinified separately in stainless steel and blended to make wines which are wonderfully expressive of the vineyard.
