The 2015 Cuvée Boz, released at the end of February 2021, is 100% Chardonnay from the Jenkyn Place Vineyard in Hampshire. This has a light mousse and a greenish tint. The well-defined, complex and harmonious nose unfolds to reveal green apples, crustaceans and subtle hints of lemon thyme. The palate is very well balanced and poised, quite weighty in the mouth, offering citrus peel, orange zest and faint traces of strawberry toward the elegant finish. This is an outstanding English sparkling wine from Dermot Sugrue, certainly one of the best that I have tasted. Dosage is 9g/L. Drinking range: 2023 - 2036 Rating: 94 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Aug 2021)

100% Chardonnay from the Jenkyn Place vineyard, Hampshire, planted in 2004. Made as a tribute to Dermot Sugrue's brother. Unoaked, full malo. Bottled July 2016; disgorged September 2020 (so more than four years' ageing on lees). Dosage 9 g/l. 6,200 bottles produced. Tasted blind. Very effervescent! Deep straw colour. Almost ethereal; very high toned. Really neat and nicely married, though with a hint of acetic. Slightly austere. Bone-dry finish. A real mouthwash. Light-bodied, quintessential aperitif blanc de blancs. Recommended for grower-champagne fans! Drinking range: 2022 - 2028 Rating: 17 Jancis Robinson OBE MW - www.JancisRobinson.com (Jun 2021)

“Barry Ben Sugrue – was my brother and this wine is dedicated to him. Boz was spectacularly gifted, an ardent and accomplished man, bright as the crisp-white paper his razor-sharp pencil raised perfection upon. This Blanc de Blancs is my tribute, but truth is there is no fitting tribute to someone like Boz… Cuvée Boz is my attempt however.” I crafted this Blanc de Blancs with long cellar-ageing in mind, and I am delighted with the results: it is everything you would expect from a mature English Blanc de Blancs – floral notes of white flowers and citrus, with precise and elegant fruit on the palate but with a weight and textural complexity that is only possible to achieve with extended time on lees in the winery. This wine was vinified entirely in stainless barrels, without any oak, so a remarkable clarity and freshness shines through displaying toasty, flint-like minerality and a long, persistent finish.
