2015 En Crèches Domaine Daniel Barraud
Tighter tauter nose more citrus, touch floral, then peach and butter. Palate has nice definition, great acid, citrus, fig and peach, creamy and ripe. L&S (Nov 2016)

The 2015 St Veran en Creches comes from the lower slopes of Roche de Vergisson and was vinified in barrel with 15% new oak. This has a less fruit, more resinous bouquet that oddly reminded me of some of Chris Alheit's whites from South Africa (and of course, I mean that as a compliment). The palate is very well balanced with a tang of stem ginger on the entry, traces of apricot, star fruit and even rhubarb toward the finish that continues the spicy theme, leaving the mouth tingling with lemongrass. This is another outstanding Saint Veran from team Barraud. Drinking range: 2018 - 2028 Rating: 92 Neal Martin, www.robertparker.com (Sep 2017)
Rounded, fleshy palate with lovely baked apple and some cinnamon spice. No oak influence to speak of, but a lovely brisk acidity on the finish Drinking range: 2017 - 2022 Rating: 16.5 Richard Hemming - www.JancisRobinson.com (Jan 2017)
(from vines in Davayé). Here the fresh nose is really quite pretty with its ripe array of floral, pear, apple and citrus peel-suffused aromas. I like the mouth feel of the vibrant and reasonably well-detailed flavors that possess good focus and mid-palate concentration as well as a lifting backend sense of salinity. Lovely. 2018+ Rating: 88-91 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Dec 2016)
Domaine Daniel Barraud
Daniel and Martine Barraud's vineyards have been in the family since 1890 and with their son Julien now helping to run the domaine - they represent the fifth generation of the family to be making wine here. Most of their 8.5 hectares vines are in Vergisson and are mostly high up under the famous rock (Vergisson lies between the two dramatic cliffs of the rocks of Solutré and Vergisson).
The vineyards here are significantly higher than those of Fuissé, and consequently later-ripening, and the wines often have a more solid structure - but all Daniel's wines have their own character, from the Puligny-like directness of the La Roche to the fat, almost California-like 'en Buland', via the mineral force of the Crays.
