Yes. More iodine, more seashells a delicious saline feel, here it is. True Chablis - super feel, sleek but poised and pure. Some muscle, good kick and bounce, but graceful too. Impressive and classic. L&S (Oct 2017)

The 2016 Chablis Côte de Léchet 1er Cru well surpassed my expectations gleaned from barrel. It is blessed with a “stonking” bouquet – it just storms out of the glass with chalk dust, lemon curd and light mineral scents. The palate is fresh and vibrant with crisp acidity, hints of sour lemon and superb delineation on the lightly spiced finish. Readers should note that this took a couple of hours to open but when it did, this might well be my pick from Laurent Tribut this year. Drinking range: 2019 - 2032 Rating: 93 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Aug 2018)

(from a .8 ha parcel). This had recently been racked and the nose was largely dominated by sulfur today. Otherwise there is good density and ripeness to the richer and more obviously mineral-inflected middle weight flavors that evidence a sleek mouth feel before terminating in a clean and markedly dry finish, at least in the context of what is typical for the vintage. Drinking range: 2021 - Rating: 89-91 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jan 2018)

The 2016 Chablis 1Er Cru Cote de Lechet has a clean and pure bouquet with quite a strong oyster shell influence that I hope will be in situ once in bottle. The palate is crisp and taut and this is quite a linear Côte de Lechét with a brisk, saline finish that leaves the mouth tingling after the wine has departed. I like the energy here—this is one to watch out for once in bottle. Drinking range: 2019 - 2027 Rating: 89-91 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Dec 2017)

Domaine Laurent Tribut

Laurent Tribut is married to Vincent Dauvissat's sister, Marie Clotilde. When he started he made his wines in the Dauvissat cellar in Chablis, but now this small family-run domaine is based in Poinchy. Laurent has now officially retired and has now handed over to three of their four children (Solange, Adeline and Gabriel), with Solange taking the lead in the winery. With Laurent’s guidance the future here looks very bright.

With just 6 hectares the quantities are small - but the quality of all the cuvées is extraordinary. Pure, powerfully driven, classically shaped there is more than a passing similarity to the wines of his brother-in-law, the head-line grabbing Vincent Dauvissat. Buyers will enjoy these long-lived wines with some time in bottle too - they have a great ability to age and patience will pay off, we recently tasted the 1er Cru Côte de Léchet 2004 with Laurent in his cellar and it was bright, young and full of vigour - nearly 15 years on, and in 2020 the 2000 Beauroy was still in it’s prime. This is brilliant, classic Chablis.
