Blue-edged ruby. Bright raspberry top-note with a darker undertone, supple, juicy fruit, nicely defined if not the deepest. Will be a very attractive lighter Saint Julien at a very reasonable price. Drinking range: 2020 - 2026 Rating: 87-89 L&S (Apr 2017)

The 2016 La Bridane has an understated bouquet with blackberry and boysenberry fruit, not complex but nicely defined. The palate is medium-bodied with a sweet core of black fruit, hints of salted liquorice and cedar towards the nicely proportioned finish. Very fine. Tasted at the Oenoconseil tasting room in Bordeaux. Drinking range: 2019 - 2026 Rating: 89 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Oct 2018)

The 2016 La Bridane offers simple black fruit on the nose with a light fish oil scent. There is freshness here and that also comes through on the palate. However, the tannins feel rather dry and that finish is austere, leaving the mouth asking for more flesh and fruit. Drinking range: 2019 - 2024Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Apr 2017)

Dark blackish ruby. Sweet, evolved nose. This seems much less callow than most 2016s. Very winning already but not very obviously St-Julien; less structured. You have to look carefully for the tannins. Big ripe fruit. Maybe just a bit too smooth and low in acid...? Drinking range: 2020 - 2026 Rating: 16 Jancis Robinson OBE MW - www.JancisRobinson.com (Apr 2017)
