HAUTES CÔTES DE NUITS
2016 Blanc Cuvée Marine Domaine Anne Gros
|Village||Hautes Côtes de Nuits|
Great harvest and yield here in 2016. Anne picked latish, between the 27th of September and the 10th of October, these vines are about 20 years old. Quite an open, delicately floral nose leads to a more robust palate. Good level of nice, ripish grapefruit t, but then bright and zippy citrus hit cuts through. This year they reduced the 'new' wood here to 30-35% and I like the brightness very much. L&S (Oct 2017)

This vibrant, sappy cuvée has a hint of the sea about it, along with a chalky, leesy texture that complements floral, peach and tropical fruit. From just 1ha of vines, it sees 12 months in barrel (30% new) and has firm limey acidity. Rating: 93-93 Decanter Magazine(Dec 2018)
The highly respected Anne Gros develops wines with precision and clarity. Named after her daughter, the Cuvée Marine has delicate floral aromas with a rich, rounded palate and a punchy finish.Will Lyons, The Sunday Times(Dec 2018)
Tank sample. Named after Anne Gros’ youngest daughter, who is studying at Chambéry, and marine soils. Quite rich nose. Concentrated and chewy and with lots of nerve. Lip-smacking. Drinking range: 2018 - 2021 Rating: 16.5 Jancis Robinson MW OBE - www.JancisRobinson.com(Feb 2018)
I have a lot of time for her Hautes-Côtes de Nuits white and red that should drink well over the next three or four years. The 2016 Hautes Cotes de Nuits Cuvee Marine Blanc has a slightly resinous, pressed white flower-scented bouquet that just needs to convey a little more nascent energy. That actually comes through more on the palate, which has fine tension, a keen line of acidity that cuts through the grapefruit and lime notes, and a finish displaying generosity and decent weight for its class. Drinking range: 2018 - 2023 Rating: 88 Neal Martin, www.robertparker.com(Dec 2017)
Demi nuids 500l. Citrus and light white peach notes. Lightly rounded, fresh and slightly floral at the end..touch of sapidity too. A good crop here. No frost. I like this.Sarah Marsh MW, The Burgundy Briefing(Nov 2017)
Domaine Anne Gros
Anne Gros joined her father François at the family domaine in Vosne Romanée in 1988, having given up her arts studies in favour of viticulture and oenology at Beaune and Dijon, and has run the domaine alone since 1995. The Domaine now has 6.5 hectares of Pinot and Chardonnay. Anne describes herself as being 'wary of certainties and keen to preserve her freedom'.
In the vineyards Anne practises viticulture influenced by organic and biodynamic principles, and the vineyards are ploughed and fertilised with compost, but although she believes that the long-term health of the vineyards are best preserved by such methods, she likes to maintain the freedom to use conventional treatments when necessary.
In the cellar, the wines are classically made, in cement tanks for the reds, and stainless steel for the whites. They are then are aged in barrel for up to fifteen months, with 80% new wood for the grand crus, 50% for the village wines and 30% for the regional wines. Anne is quietly meticulous and almost obsessive about cleanliness in her cellar, which perhaps is reflected in the delicacy and restrained tension in her wines, which have aromatic clarity, limpid precision, sheer joie de vivre, lively balance and persistence.
