Vineyard Les Murgers des Cras

(This is a blend of three 1er Crus from the Vosne side of Nuits, Murgers, Cras and Richemone) Nose is gently perfumed with dark fruit, not that imposing. Palate is clean, mineral-scubbed fruit. A lovely firmness to the red plum and strawberry fruit and almost pomegranate tones. The ripeness is again spot on. Nicely restrained, not too sweet. Poised. Good weight, good drive. Line and length and potential here. Mineral push is super, stonking. L&S (Oct 2017)

(60% from La Richemone and 20% each from Les Aux Murgers and Aux Cras): Bright, dark red. Lovely airy aromas of black cherry, dark raspberry and spices accented by a note of white flowers; these vineyards are all on the Vosne side of Nuits and it shows. Sappy and bracing in the mouth, conveying terrific inner-mouth tension to its black cherry and licorice flavors complicated by saline minerality. Finishes with a medicinal menthol reserve and building tannins that are a bit tougher than those of the estate's village wines. Rating: 89-92 Stephen Tanzer, www.vinousmedia.com (Jan 2018)

(this cuvée is composed from 20% Les Murgers, 20% Les Cras and 60% Richemone). Firm reduction renders the nose tough to evaluate. On the plus side there is a lovely inner mouth perfumed to the tautly muscular and very punchy flavors that are at once robust yet reasonably refined thanks to the relatively fine-grain of the supporting tannins shaping the bitter cherry-inflected finish. This is quite firm but not rustic or even especially austere though with that said, this will need at least some bottle age to unwind and flesh out. Drinking range: 2028 - Rating: 90-93 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jan 2018)

The 2016 Nuit St Georges Les Murgers des Cras is a blend of 20% Les Murgers, 20% Les Cras and 60% La Richmoine. I appreciate the energy of the aromatics here, the scents springing from the glass to offer bright Morello cherry and crushed strawberry scents, the mineralité neatly interwoven. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannin, nimbler than its peers with fine delineation and poise on the finish. This will be well worth seeking out. Drinking range: 2019 - 2030 Rating: 90-92 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Dec 2017)

Domaine Christophe Perrot-Minot

Christophe Perrot-Minot is now the fourth generation of his family producing wine on the estate after his great grandfather Amédée Merme devoted himself to the management and production of wine over 130 years ago. The estate has gone from strength to strength – always keeping the highest standards. Integrated viticulture has been practiced for many years now which has been adapted especially for the terroir. No herbicide or chemical fertilizer is used, instead, Christophe prefers to “stand back and listen to this terroir, only intervening when necessary or when the weather requires it, never systematically.” This is one of the star domaines of the whole of Burgundy.
