Saline, crisp, and as clean as a white sail under a blue sky, just as picpoul should be. Victoria Moore, The Daily Telegraph (Jun 2017)

We can't tell you who Queen Juliette was but what we can say is that this appetising dry white from near the Languedoc's mussel and oyster beds displays an inviting apple and pear fragrance that gets the saliva juices going in anticipation of its crisp appley fruit with its hint of greengage while its clean, dry finish really does have you hankering for a plate of moules marinières. Rating: 87 www.thewinegang.com (Jun 2017)

Well-defined apple and lemon aroma with a slate and bitter herb note to finish. Good typicality. Drinking range: 2017 - 2019 Rating: 15.5 Richard Hemming - www.JancisRobinson.com (Mar 2017)

As with prosecco, picpoul has become fashionable so fast that much of it is now dilute and disappointing and tastes like old boiled sweets. This one returns it to glory: it’s saline, dry and slightly hawthorny. Great. Nice to have the freshness of the new 2016 too. Victoria Moore, The Daily Telegraph (Feb 2017)

Domaine Reine Juliette

Domaine Reine Juliette, supposedly named after a visit to the area by Queen Juliette, is the family vineyard of Guillaume Allies. It has vineyards on the southern side of the modern A9 Montpellier-Beziers road, which itself follows the course of the Roman Via Domitia, the main road from Italy to Spain. This southern part of the Pinet appellation is along the edge of the Bassin de Thau, a huge inland sea, and is the most affected by cooling sea breezes, which accounts for the particular freshness of expression is these whites.
