2016 Chardonnay Pike & Joyce

The “Sirocco” has been awarded 3 Gold Medals at the 2017 Adelaide Wine Show, 2017 National Wine Show (Canberra) and the 2017 James Halliday Chardonnay Challenge. It has also received a good score (93p) from noted tough scoring Aussie wine scribe Huon Hooke. This is a single vineyard wine made from hand pruned/hand-picked vines and wild yeast fermented in 228L French oak pieces. It spends 8-10 months on lees post vintage and are hand stirred once a fortnight until we are happy with the palate structure. Winemaker's notes (Jul 2018)

Pike & Joyce
Pike & Joyce is Neil Pike's new venture with the Joyce family in Lenswood, a cool climate region of quite high altitude and steep slopes. The Joyce family have grown fruit here for generations, largely apples and cherries, and only turned their hands to becoming 'vignerons' at the pursuasion of Neil. There are only thirteen acres of vines planted and the early result are already more than encouraging.
