2016 'Limestone' Essenheim Weingut Braunewell
Gorgeously expressive and fragrant with intense cherry and wild strawberry fruit. In the mouth the wine has some lovely weight, with a sleek fruit profile, red fruits, earth and spice, a bit of sinew from the tannins and then a lively acid balance, sapid and rich and long. Drinking range: 2018 - 2025 L&S (Jan 2021)
*Case price discount: Mix any 12 bottles (or 9l equivalent) of wine or 6 bottles of Champagne, Spirits, Sweet Wine or Fortified to get the 'case price' for each bottle.
François Breiniville fled 17th Century France's Huguenot persecution to settle in Essenheim, just south west of Mainz.
It took until the 1960's for Adam Braunewell to start bottling the wines from his family's vineyards and, today, he helps his children and grandchildren run this excellent estate and tend their flagship vineyards of Blume and Teufelspfad (the Devil's path!)
