TEUFELSPFAD SPÄTBURGUNDER

2016 Weingut Braunewell

Grapes Pinot Noir
Colour Red
Origin Germany, Rheinhessen
Village Essenheim
ABV 13%
Vineyard Teufelspfad

Wonderfully bold and fragrant Pinot Noir from Braunewell. Black cherry, raspberry and an earthy touch spicy pungency on the nose. The mouthfeel is rich, saturated with dark fleshy fruits, spices and mocha, but the acidity stops everything from becoming too much and the tannins give form and structure. A really beautiful wine that shows just how great German Pinot Noir can be. L&S (Mar 2020)

Weingut Braunewell

François Breiniville fled 17th Century France's Huguenot persecution to settle in Essenheim, just south west of Mainz.
It took until the 1960's for Adam Braunewell to start bottling the wines from his family's vineyards and, today, he helps his children and grandchildren run this excellent estate and tend their flagship vineyards of Blume and Teufelspfad (the Devil's path!)
