A hugely enjoyable white blend with quite an Italian accent. Fiano and Pinot Grigio join more maintstream Sauvignon and Semillon to deliver a waxy, kiwi and lime inflected palate. Part floral and with a gentle spice element, this is a really easy drinking wine. Drinking range: 2018 - 2020 L&S (Mar 2018)

Golden Delicious apples with a smidge of spice and baked pear. Suffers a little from being tasted directly after a Mosel Grosses Gewächs, but great acidity, which kicks in on the finish. James Suckling writing about Pikes in 2018 says 'They’re good, consistent wines packed with soulful interest, offering great value.' We certainly agree and are delighted to still be working together after more than 20 years. Owned by the Pike brothers, one of whom (Andrew) was for many years the senior viticulturist with Southcorp, the other (Neil) a former winemaker at Mitchells. Pikes now has its own winery, with Neil Pike presiding.

Generously constructed and flavoured wines are the order of the day, but wines which also have a restraint and a drinkability far ahead of some of the 'maximum one glass' reds that seem to dominate Australian shows and exports.
