2016 Pikes Polish Hill River Estate

Grapes Fiano, Sauv Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Sémillon
Colour White
Origin Australia, South Australia
ABV 11.5%

A hugely enjoyable white blend with quite an Italian accent. Fiano and Pinot Grigio join more maintstream Sauvignon and Semillon to deliver a waxy, kiwi and lime inflected palate. Part floral and with a gentle spice element, this is a really easy drinking wine. Drinking range: 2018 - 2020 L&S (Mar 2018)

*Case price: Mix any 12 bottles of wine or 6 bottles of Champagne, Spirits or Fortified to get the 'case price' for each bottle.

Golden Delicious apples with a smidge of spice and baked pear. Suffers a little from being tasted directly after a Mosel Grosses Gewächs, but great acidity, which kicks in on the finish. Clean and saliva-inducing on the finish, and has the potential to evolve a bit. Drinking range: 2018 - 2021 Rating: 16.5 Tamlyn Currin - (May 2018)

Pikes Polish Hill River Estate

Owned by the Pike brothers, one of whom (Andrew) was for many years the senior viticulturist with Southcorp, the other (Neil) a former winemaker at Mitchells. Pikes now has its own winery, with Neil Pike presiding.

Generously constructed and flavoured wines are the order of the day, but wines which also have a restraint and a drinkability far ahead of some of the 'maximum one glass' reds that seem to dominate Australian shows and exports.

This wine isn't currently part of a mixed case, but you can always browse our full selection of mixed cases here.
