Vineyard Chapelle Chambertin

After the Charmes there is more ripeness in this Chapelle, more svelte slick gloss to the feel. This is hyper polished. Richer, riper and then a dark note builds in the fruit. Moving to the blacker spectrum with damson and blackberries here - but sexily ripe. Just a touch of firmness on the finish, some structure - but this is an intensely-laden, sleek wine of great joy. Drinking range: 2019 - 2028 L&S (Nov 2018)

(from Chapelle proper). This is more restrained still though aggressive swirling eventually coaxes the gorgeously broad-ranging and pure nose to reveal a more floral and spicier mélange of red and dark currant, plum, tea, and soft earth scents. The equally pure, naturally sweet, precise and beautifully detailed medium-bodied flavors possess slightly better depth and even a bit more persistence. In short, this is gorgeous and very Chapelle. Drinking range: 2032 - Rating: 92-94 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jan 2019)

The 2017 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru is much more reserved on the nose compared to the Charmes-Chambertin, the fruit a little darker. There is something of a crushed-pebble, almost beach-like scent, a distant tang of cockle sheds that surfaces with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannin and a little more depth and grip than the Charmes-Chambertin, even if it does not quite display the same sensuality and flesh on the finish. Good potential. Drinking range: 2022 - 2038 Rating: 92-94 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Jan 2019)

This has a surprising quantity of fruit on the nose. It’s really juicy. Is is quite firmly structured underneath, but surprisingly fine too..the tannins are restrained and it is draped in sweet fruit. Rating: 19.5 Sarah Marsh MW, The Burgundy Briefing (Dec 2018)

Domaine Christophe Perrot-Minot

Christophe Perrot-Minot is now the fourth generation of his family producing wine on the estate after his great grandfather Amédée Merme devoted himself to the management and production of wine over 130 years ago. The estate has gone from strength to strength – always keeping the highest standards. Integrated viticulture has been practiced for many years now which has been adapted especially for the terroir. No herbicide or chemical fertilizer is used, instead, Christophe prefers to “stand back and listen to this terroir, only intervening when necessary or when the weather requires it, never systematically.” This is one of the star domaines of the whole of Burgundy.
