2017 Chardonnay Two Rivers of Marlborough

Colour White
Origin New Zealand, South Island
District Marlborough
ABV 13%

From the super talented Dave Clouston, this is from the Clos de Pierres Vineyard (place of stones) vine age is around 25 years, harvesting is by hand and the wine is whole bunch fermented and then aged in a mixture of new and seasoned French oak and concrete egg. A very pure expression with struck match, wild flowers, citrus and stone fruit. In the mouth the wine is super elegant, plenty of rich creamy citrus and peach fruit, hazelnut and vanilla pod, gently smoky it has great vivacity and lift. L&S (Mar 2020)

Two Rivers of Marlborough

David Clouston is originally from Marlborough, and after 22 vintages abroad from Oregon to Chile, Corsica to Alsace, he returned home and set about exploring the valleys and diverse terroirs of Marlborough. The main production is the Sauvignon made from fruit from both the Awatere and Wairau river valleys, whence the 'Two Rivers of Marlborough' name, but his hillside Pinot Noir is showing great potential.
