On the nose this just screams Pinot Noir in a pretty and fragrant way. At once Burgundian but incredibly polished and satisfying at this price-level. A whiff of a smart Kiwi Pinot perhaps. Stefan's reds are simply going from strength to strength. His Essenheim vineyards produce such fabulous fruit, elegant, perky Pinot characters full of grace and just enough energetic vim to keep this juicy and engaging. Softer fruit aromatics build in the middle, and are enlivened with a twist of juice and sappy grace on the finish, this a wonderfully easy wine to go back to for another glass. L&S (Jul 2020)

*Case price discount: Mix any 12 bottles (or 9l equivalent) of wine or 6 bottles of Champagne, Spirits, Sweet Wine or Fortified to get the 'case price' for each bottle.

One of the best spätburgunders (pinot noirs) I’ve tasted. Confidently full-bodied, it retains the natural spiciness of the grape, with red fruit and an earthy punch on the palate. Will Lyons, The Sunday Times(Aug 2020)

In a different style to the expansive and casual Walt, Braunewell has a much more Burgundian tension, a scent of forest floor and a tingle in the mouth and it would work really well as a sharpener at the end of the day, then on the dinner table with a thyme-roasted chicken.Victoria Moore, The Daily Telegraph(Aug 2020)

Weingut Braunewell

François Breiniville fled 17th Century France's Huguenot persecution to settle in Essenheim, just south west of Mainz. It took until the 1960's for Adam Braunewell to start bottling the wines from his family's vineyards and, today, he helps his children and grandchildren run this excellent estate and tend their flagship vineyards of Blume and Teufelspfad (the Devil's path!)

PINOT NOIR for not too many pennies

Everyone likes a nice Pinot Noir these days. And everyone is right so to do. But Pinot Noir has an annoying habit of draining one's fiscal resources faster than desirable. Worry not. LEA & SANDEMAN continue to scour the globe in search of outstanding value and are glad to present a nicely-priced selection with all the nobility this variety can muster.

Spatburgunder Mixed Case (German Pinot Noir)

It's Pinot Noir from our great producers in Germany. There is a delicious old world restraint to these exciting wines made from the Pinot Noir/Spatburgunder grape. Reminiscent of their french counterparts, the reds of Burgundy, these clean-lined bright Pinots offer sensational value for money. Riesling has become the 'go-to' white variety for wine lovers on the hunt for something a little more adventurous or interesting - and these great Spatburgunders are set for similar fame and fortune. This mixed case is a great intro t othese super wines - ideal for summer drinking - this is a case overloaded with grerat value, high quality reds.
