The 2017 Traditionale Dry Riesling bursts with scents of lime, green apple, pineapple and ripe peach. It's a dry, medium-bodied version of Clare Riesling, sturdy enough to age well up to a decade but open enough to enjoy young, with a long, crisp finish. Smells like Bircher muesli with fresh apples and sunflower seeds and toasted oats. Healthful and wholesome. Good delivery of flavour and substance at just 11.5%. Very appley and crunchy and clean. James Suckling writing about Pikes in 2018 says 'They’re good, consistent wines packed with soulful interest, offering great value.' We certainly agree and are delighted to still be working together after more than 20 years. Owned by the Pike brothers, one of whom (Andrew) was for many years the senior viticulturist with Southcorp, the other (Neil) a former winemaker at Mitchells. Pikes now has its own winery, with Neil Pike presiding.

Generously constructed and flavoured wines are the order of the day, but wines which also have a restraint and a drinkability far ahead of some of the 'maximum one glass' reds that seem to dominate Australian shows and exports.
