Another sleek gem from Christophe, The Champs Perdrix starts in the mouth with a fine line of real ripeness to the black current fruit. Its an almost Ribena-like core. Then some gentle, soft, mineral bite gets going - a broad sweep of ground pebbles adds a softly suedey texture., elegantly done. suave but a tad more sturdy than some wines here. Clean, brighter finish. Drinking range: 2021 - 2026 L&S (Nov 2018)

The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Les Champs Perdrix has an open-knit, slightly mushroomy bouquet of light red fruit, hints of sage and even a little onion skin. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fine acidity, a touch of white pepper and a cohesive, quite energetic finish. This should age nicely over the next decade. Drinking range: 2020 - 2030 Rating: 90 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Jan 2020)

This is the first wine to display any appreciable reduction and here it’s enough to mask all but a few wisps of spice nuances. Otherwise the super-sleek, intense and delineated flavors possess an even more refined texture along with plenty of minerality on the classy and focused finale. This is not quite as dense as the Gevrey but it’s still a very, very pretty Vosne villages. Drinking range: 2024 - Rating: 89-91 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jan 2019)

The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Les Champs Perdrix Vieilles Vignes has a lifted, marmalade-tinged bouquet that reveals raspberry preserve and orange blossom scents with time. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, light red fruit, moderate depth and a slightly conservative finish that just needs a little more complexity. Drink over the next seven to 10 years. Drinking range: 2020 - 2028 Rating: 87-89 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Jan 2019)

Domaine Christophe Perrot-Minot

Christophe Perrot-Minot is now the fourth generation of his family producing wine on the estate after his great grandfather Amédée Merme devoted himself to the management and production of wine over 130 years ago. The estate has gone from strength to strength – always keeping the highest standards. Integrated viticulture has been practiced for many years now which has been adapted especially for the terroir. No herbicide or chemical fertilizer is used, instead, Christophe prefers to “stand back and listen to this terroir, only intervening when necessary or when the weather requires it, never systematically.” This is one of the star domaines of the whole of Burgundy.
