2018 Sauvignon Blanc Two Rivers of Marlborough

Grapes Sauv Blanc
Colour White
Origin New Zealand, South Island
ABV 13.5%

As the name may suggest, this is from a higher altitude vineyard in the Southern Valleys area of Marlborough. Hand-picked grapes, barrel fermented in large barrels; aged for 10 months. Whilst still clearly still Kiwi Sauvignon Blanc, there is much more finesse on display here, good acidity, nice clean lines, clean fruit, some minerality too. L&S (Jul 2020)

*Case price discount: Mix any 12 bottles (or 9l equivalent) of wine or 6 bottles of Champagne, Spirits, Sweet Wine or Fortified to get the 'case price' for each bottle.

From the Saint Maur Vineyard - aromas and flavours of ripe, fresh and baked citrus fruits - lemon and grapefruit; apple and vanilla, cape gooseberry and peach. Nice and complex, enticing and curious. On the palate - there’s complexity and texture, fruit flavours and mineral, whispers of a flinty stony spice then a wild flowers suggestion. Plenty of acidity, medium (ish) weight, great balance and length. As the wine warms in glass - the better it gets. A very modern and appealing expression of SB. Best drinking from today and through 2023. Drinking range: - 2023 Rating: 95 (Aug 2020)

Two Rivers of Marlborough

David Clouston is originally from Marlborough, and after 22 vintages abroad from Oregon to Chile, Corsica to Alsace, he returned home and set about exploring the valleys and diverse terroirs of Marlborough. The main production is the Sauvignon made from fruit from both the Awatere and Wairau river valleys, whence the 'Two Rivers of Marlborough' name, but his hillside Pinot Noir is showing great potential.
