Entirely de-stemmed. Fifty to sixty-year-old vines. Aromatically it does not yet have the scented purity of the 2017, but there's more mass, this will still be a lovely Chambolle. Bright and really quite rich, it is both mouth-filling and elegant. 'The skeleton is not quite in place', remarks Eric, 'it will get there in cuve'. L&S (Nov 2019)

The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Vieilles Vignes has an attractive nose of cranberry, red currant and orange peel aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with quite rustic tannins, tight at the moment, and a little attenuated toward the finish. Drinking range: 2022 - 2032 Rating: 88 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Dec 2020)

The lack of the word 'domaine' in the name signals that this is a négociant wine from Thibault Liger-Belair. On the whole Thibault buys grapes having tended the vines with his own team, so that the wines are domaine wines in all but name.
